American Express Expands Lounge Offerings across North America to Canadian Cardmembers

The CenturionSM Lounge Open in New York, Dallas and Las Vegas

TORONTO, Nov. 5, 2014 /CNW/ - Travel just got even more luxurious for Canadian jetsetters, as American Express unveils The CenturionSM Lounge in US cities.  Well-known for its robust lounge access in airports around the globe including Toronto's Pearson International Airport, American Express has opened these new lounges in Las Vegas McCarran International Airport (LAS), Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and most recently New York's LaGuardia Airport (LGA). The Centurion Lounge in San Francisco Airport (SFO) will open later this fall and a location at Miami International Airport (MIA) will open later this year.  These uniquely designed lounges include amenities that range from seasonal locally-inspired food, cocktails and wine, to connected work spaces with high speed Wi-Fi and private noise-buffering work nooks. Select locations include complimentary spa treatments, rejuvenating shower suites, conference rooms and family rooms.

For Canadian Cardmembers, a stop at The Centurion Lounge in New York LaGuardia Airport's (LGA) is an ideal way to compliment a trip to New York. Featuring seasonal menus designed by Cédric Vongerichten, Chef de Cuisine at Perry St in New York City as well as a premium bar with New York-inspired specialty cocktails and wine selections created by renowned mixologist Jim Meehan and wine director Anthony Giglio*, The Centurion Lounge is a quiet oasis in a busy travel hub.

"Canadians love to travel, and they're looking for more ways to enhance their experience. By providing access to The Centurion Lounge, we're able to give Canadian Cardmembers a unique and comfortable way to spend their time at the airport," said Laura Scheck, Director, Consumer Cards & Loyalty, American Express Canada. "The kinds of amenities that these lounges offer make the old saying 'getting there is half the fun' really ring true."

Entry to The Centurion Lounge, located in Terminal B, is complimentary for Consumer, Business and Corporate Platinum Card and Centurion® Members, and their immediate family or up to two travel companions. Other American Express® Credit and Charge Cardmembers may purchase a one-day pass at The Centurion Lounge for $50**.

The Centurion Lounge is part of the growing number of airport lounges American Express Cardmembers have access to worldwide, and in major cities across Canada including Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver and Montreal, through the Priority Pass, Plaza Premium and Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge programs. Additionally, in Toronto, the airport experience goes beyond lounge access through the company's partnership with Toronto Pearson International Airport to include priority security lane access, complimentary valet parking, parking discounts and priority taxi and limo lanes for select Cardmembers***.

Beyond the airport, the American Express lounge experience extends into the entertainment space, by offering lounge access to all Amex Cardmembers at some of Toronto's top venues: Molson Canadian Amphitheatre, Massey Hall, Roy Thomson Hall, and most recently, at the Princess of Wales Theatre. Centurion Cardmembers have exclusive access to the BlackRock Lounge at Roy Thomson Hall which includes complimentary hospitality.

"The Centurion Lounge is a great addition to American Express Canada's expanding suite of lounge access," says Scheck. "From the airport to the theatre, we're providing our Cardmembers opportunities to go beyond a regular experience, whether it's ensuring their vacations start from the moment they arrive at the airport, or giving them an area to enjoy before, during and after a show."
