American Express Canada Named One of the GTA's Top Employers by Mediacorp Canada Inc.

American Express recognized for exceptional career development programs and employee support networks.

TORONTO, Dec. 10, 2018 /CNW/ - American Express Canada is honoured to be recognized as one of the GTA's Top Employers by Mediacorp Canada Inc. for its exceptional career development programs and employee support networks. This is Amex's first win in the category following three consecutive years of being recognized by Mediacorp as one of Canada's Top Diversity Employers.

"Our people are our most important asset, which is why helping our employees excel is a key focus for us" says Catherine Finley, Vice President of Human Resources at American Express Canada. "By backing our people and investing in workplace culture, we are enabling a diverse pool of talent and opinions that help drive innovation."

A benchmark for workplace best-practices in the GTA, Mediacorp's editorial team selects employers based on their work in a number of categories including work atmosphere, employee benefits, career development, and community involvement.

American Express achieved this win through a number of its employee programs and networks including their Women at Amex initiative, which is aimed at supporting the development and advancement of women in corporate Canada, and continues to play a crucial role in the company's focus on gender diversity.

Employee Resource Groups (Employee Networks as they are referred to at Amex) are also a fundamental pillar of American Express' Diversity and Inclusion strategy. The 10 chapters in Canada help facilitate development workshops, panel discussions, and roundtables where employees can grow their skill set and learn from senior leaders.

In addition, American Express backs a number of organizations in their local communities through the company's employee volunteer program Serve2Gether, and internal fundraising campaign Give2Gether.
