American Express names Denise Pickett new Canadian President & CEO
MARKHAM, ON, April 11 /CNW/ - Denise Pickett has been named to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer, Amex Bank of Canada and Amex Canada Inc. In her new capacity, Ms. Pickett will head the Canada Executive Team and directly manage the Canadian Consumer Card and Small Business Services, leading the company's marketing, acquisition, product development, and insurance areas. She will also chair of the board of directors of Amex Bank of Canada. A native of Toronto, Ms. Pickett is based in the Markham office and will report to Doug Buckminster, Regional President, Latin America/Caribbean/Canada for American Express. "I am excited that Denise is heading up the Canadian business. She is a strong, homegrown leader with a proven track record of driving business growth," says Mr. Buckminster. "The Canadian market is a very important one for American Express as we continue to grow our international business. Denise is well versed in developing and executing solid customer focused marketing and business propositions, and American Express Canada will benefit from her strategic expertise." Ms. Pickett has been with American Express for 15-years, most recently as Vice President, Marketing and Strategy for Global Commercial Card. She has a tremendous amount of experience in the Commercial Card business, as well as in the Consumer business where she held a series of senior positions in Loyalty & Retention, New Product Development, Strategic Planning, and Small Business Services. She holds a Masters degree in Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business at York University and an Honours Bachelors degree from the University of Toronto.
