To be joined by community, music and travel/adventure mentors - Craig and Marc Kielburger, Emily Haines and Les Stroud
TORONTO, Nov. 4, 2011 /CNW/ - Starting on Nov. 8, Toronto's Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts will host three unique ideas from inspired Canadians as winners of the American Express Room for Thought program: Survivor Garden, GHOST and Second Chance Travel. Media and the public are invited to experience the winning ideas, which were supported by mentors Craig and Marc Kielburger, Emily Haines and Les Stroud.
The American Express Room for Thought program launched in August and asked Canadians to submit innovative ideas in the categories of community, music and travel and adventure. The downtown showcase will see one space transformed into a visually stunning display representing each concept.
The first idea to be brought to life -- starting Nov. 8 -- is Survivor Garden, by winner Lisa Shanker, mentored by Craig and Marc Kielburger. Shanker and Craig Kielburger will be on hand Tuesday, Nov. 8, to explain this inspiring idea. Survivor Garden seeks to provide therapeutic gardening techniques for those recovering from serious illness.
Then, on Nov. 15, GHOST winner Andrew Huang and his mentor Emily Haines will present the idea/room for the music category, an interactive music installation that lets users experience sound in a new way. The third and final idea/room, Second Chance Travel will be featured on Nov. 21 with winner Evan Malach and his mentor Les Stroud. Second Chance Travel provides youth who have experienced hardships a chance to travel the world.
