TORONTO, Jan. 20, 2016 /CNW/ - American Express Canada has claimed the number one title for Rewards Canada's newly added Top Travel Rewards Card Overall category. The American Express Gold Rewards Card has been recognized as the best travel card for its rewards flexibility, opportunity to earn a welcome bonus and ease of redemption. Additionally, American Express Cards swept four of the six categories in this year's eighth annual rankings.

The rankings by Rewards Canada looks at over 75 different credit cards offering travel rewards for Canadians and evaluates various factors including cost of ownership, rate of return, the associated loyalty program (co-brand), ease of redemption, Card acceptance, partnerships, issuing bank and benefits. This year, the Cards are ranked in six main categories which include: Top Travel Rewards Card Overall, Top Travel Points Credit Card (with annual fee), Top Travel Points Credit Card (with no annual fee), Top Hybrid Travel Credit / Charge Card (with annual fee), Top Airline Credit / Charge Card, Top Hotel Points Credit Card.
The following American Express Cards were ranked as the number one Card in their category:
- American Express Gold Rewards Card as Top Rewards Card Overall
- American Express Blue Sky Credit Card as Top Travel Points Credit Card (with no annual fee)
- American Express Gold Rewards Card as Top Hybrid Credit/Charge Card (with annual fee)
- Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express as Top Hotel Credit Card
